Anthony Callea is undoubtedly one of Australia's finest vocalists and performers. The Aria Award winner has undeniably one of this country's most powerful, passionate and pure voices. His debut single The Prayer became Australia's fastest and highest selling single of all time with sales in excess of 4 x platinum and was at the top of the charts for an amazing 5 weeks.
Anthony followed his debut single with another multi-platinum number 1 single, Rain/Bridge Over Troubled Water and a self-titled multi-platinum number 1 selling album. Another two top 10 hits came off this debut album with Hurts so Bad and Per Sempre. His sophomore album A New Chapter was accredited Gold and featured two top 20 singles with Live for Love and Addicted To You.
Anthony also released Anthony Callea Live in Concert DVD, which debuted at No 3 on the Aria DVD Charts, sold Platinum and later screened as a television music special on Foxtel.
Celebrating his 30th birthday, Anthony re-discovered the songs that influenced him over the years, and in turn delivered his own musical stamp on these stunningly written tracks. THIRTY, which debuted in the Top 20 on the Aria Album Charts includes both covers and original compositions penned by Anthony, and celebrates thirty years of the most beautifully written music. Not only did he release THIRTY but the much anticipated album This Is Christmas. This album features 12 songs that Anthony has performed live over the years at Carols By Candlelight, recorded with a 55 piece orchestra, The National Boys Choir, featuring a duet with Tim Campbell and produced by the one and only John Foreman.
Taking to the stage for what was meant to be a one off performance celebrating the music of George Michael, after a sell out concert of Ladies & Gentlemen, The Songs of George Michael months leading up to his performance, he then took the concert to theatres touring nationally around the country kicking off in Perth. To coincide with this national tour, Anthony released this concert experience on DVD that was filmed at the Palms at Crown with bonus live CD through ABC/Universal Music. It went on to debut at No 1 on the Aria DVD charts and showcased as an exclusive TV special on Foxtel.
Anthony also released a dance track Oh Oh Oh Oh which pleasantly surprised everybody. Co written with the Black Eye Peas' DJ Poet, it then saw him release Last To Go from the EP also titled Last To Go. Tracks from the EP were co written in Los Angeles and Australia with the likes of Paul Mac, Matt Morris and Jaakko Salovarra. Last To Go EP is out now on iTunes. With the Last To Go EP, he took his dynamic vocals to West Hollywood and Las Vegas where he performed to a packed house at the famous Planet Hollywood on the Vegas strip.
Along with headlining his own national tours, Anthony has toured with Celine Dion, Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Westlife and was hand picked to perform for Luciano Pavarotti, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Frederik and Princess Mary of Denmark.
He has also starred in musical productions such as Wicked, Dead Man Walking, Rent and Grease. Anthony has also toured and performed with Tina Arena and was invited to perform at the Prime Ministers Olympian Dinner to celebrate our Australian Olympic team before they headed off for the London Olympic Games.
Anthony's engaging television presence has been witnessed with mentoring roles on Foxtel's Ultimate School Musical, 2 series of Channel 7's It Takes Two and countless performances on shows such as Sunrise, The Morning Show and Ten Late News. Last year marked Anthony's 12th consecutive year on Channel 9's Carols By Candlelight, and his cheeky side has been seen on Channel 10's Can Of Worms, The Project and Channel 7's Slide Show. Anthony has also accumulated a string of awards including an Aria Award along with 3 further Aria nominations, Channel V Artist of the Year, Pop Republic Artist of the Year, MTV Viewers' Choice Award, Variety's Young Entertainer of the Year, MO Award, Dolly Teen Choice Award and a Gospel Music Award.
Anthony enjoyed another career milestone with his sixth album, BACKBONE rocketing straight to number one on debut on the ARIA Albums Chart in September 2016. BACKBONE showcases Anthony’s voice to perfection as he delivers an utterly flawless take on some of his favourite songs from the ‘80s and ’90 – classics like ‘Man In The Mirror’ from Michael Jackson, Britney Spears’ ‘Sometimes’, ‘Fantasy’ from Blackbox, ‘King of Wishful Thinking’ from Go West and Steve Winwood’s ‘Higher Love’. The album also contains an original composition, the title track BACKBONE.
Anthony Callea’s seventh album, ARIA NUMBER 1 HITS IN SYMPHONY debuted at #1 on the ARIA album charts. This is Anthony’s 3rd album to enter the charts at #1 and sees him join an elite club of only four other Australian male solo artists. Industry icons Jimmy Barnes, John Farnham, John Butler Trio and Keith Urban are now joined by Anthony sharing similar chart success, cementing the future pathway for his 14 year long career to date.
Coinciding with the release, Anthony launched his album to a sold out audience with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra at Hamer Hall. A standing ovation acknowledged his performance of the new album as he delivered his version of anthems derived from the official ARIA music charts. This is the first #1 ARIA album to feature the MSO since 1987 with Sir Elton John’s LIVE IN AUSTRALIA WITH THE MELBOURNE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA.
